Our Stories

Here's some more of our wonderful stories:

Yesterday I went to the Family Fun Day at Barrington Mall Park while my sister, Ellah, was at her friend's birthday party at Chipmunks. I got to ride on a pony. there was a bouncy castle. I had a Mr Whippy ice-cream -  a single flake dip. It was yummy. We got face paint. I got little ribbons, love hearts, and flowers. I got a gingerbread man. I've got it in my lunch. yum, yum. By Paige.

On Sunday I went to church. I went with Mum, Claudia, and Isabelle. I was in a quiet room. I had lunch at my Nana's and Grandad's. it was from the bakery. I went to two bakeries - in the mall and outside. Then I went home. By Estelle

Me and my Dad are going to make a model train set. I went to a train shop. it was good because it was all half price. There were little bags for 50 cents. By George

Tuesday 28 February - Run, Jump, Throw and Other News

Anita, from Athletics Canterbury, taught us how to throw a discus and put a shot. In our warm up game we had to try and throw all the items onto the opposition's side. This was a fun activity, with one team being declared the outright winners.

The next thing we did was to practice throwing a quoit. This helped us prepare for discus throwing. We finished with the shot put.
Once again this was an enjoyable session with all children showing new learning.

Today our Year 3 leaders were announced. Hannah from Room 4 and Harrison from Room 13 will be the Junior School leaders for Terms 1 and 2. Congratulations, Hannah and Harrison, you will be superb role models for us.

This afternoon Ian, the council Animal Control Officer, spoke to us about keeping safe around dogs. He told us what to do if a dog comes up to us on the street and he showed us how to safely pat a dog. This is Alexandra patting Dharma.

To finish this post here's two of our stories:
On Sunday our family chopped down some trees and bushes. We borrowed a trailer from my Dad's friend, Abe. It took us all day. I climbed in the trailer and squashed everything down. Then we went to the dump. It was very smelly. By Kate

In the weekend I am going to Christian's, with my brother, for a sleepover. I will have fun. I will play on the trampoline. I will go in a car. Sheena will probably pick me up. I will play soccer too. I might go to the park. By Luke

Tuesday 14 February - Run, Jump, Throw

This morning we attended a Run, Jump, Throw session lead by Anita from Athletics Canterbury. We concentrated on running. First we ran around with our arms in different positions. We decided that we could run faster if our arms were bent and we moved them in a line between our shoulders and hips. Next we pretended we were different animals and ran around like them. We decided that we could run better of we were tall like a giraffe and graceful like a gazelle. We then put these skills into action by competing in some relays. Check out the photos, then read a couple of stories about the session.
I was very impressed with the children's running - we have some nifty little hurdlers!

Today is run, jump, throw. I am good at run, jump, throw. I did it at my old school. After we did run, jump, throw we decided who won. My team won. In the race I was stiff. My bones couldn't move! By William T

Today is run, jump, throw. I can't wait. The run, jump, throw lady was a little bit late. The teacher kept sending Jeffrey off to give some people a letter to ask if they knew if the run, jump, throw lady was here. Mrs Cross said, 'No.' But Mrs Phillips said, 'Yes.' The run, jump, throw lady was out on the field with Mrs Phillips and Room 4. By William F

El Gregoe

This morning the Junior Syndicate watched a show by El Gregoe. El Gregoe is a magician and as well as performing some magic tricks he talked about how we should treat each other at school. The children enjoyed the show and were amazed at some of the tricks - especially those involving El Gregoe's birds. Denver helped El Gregoe by taking a lie detector test. She made us all laugh with her answers. Well done, Denver, I think you tricked El Gregoe at times!
